3. A final Protective Order (PPO), as stipulated by Va. Code § 16.1-279.1(B), may be granted by a judge after a full court hearing takes place. A PPO can last up to two years or longer if an extension is filed before the order expires.

Where Do I Request a Protective Order in Norfolk?

If the person is family, a household member, or under the age of 18, you can file at the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Other requests for protective orders not meeting this criteria should file with the General District Court.
